Carrot Halwa

Carrot Halwa or Gajar ka halwa is a popular dessert using the red carrots, milk and jaggery or sugar. You will find this dish prepared by most North-Indian homes in winter season. The juicy red carrots are abundantly available especially in North India during winters. I prepared the healthier version of the recipe using low-fat milk and sweetened with jaggery. I used just a tablespoon of ghee in the whole recipe.  Recipe Video : Recipe card : Print Carrot Halwa | Gajar ka Halwa Yield: 2-3 servings Author: Namitha Shenoy Prep time: 5 Min Cook time: 30 Min Total time: 35 Min a winter delicacy prepared using carrots cooked in milk and jaggery. Sarson ka saag is a popular dish of Punjab and North India which is served with Makke ki roti. This is mostly eaten in winter season. This saag is prepared using mustard greens, spinach, wild spinach(bathua) and radish leaves. Its spiced using ginger, garlic and green chilies and seasoned with onions and tomatoes fried in ghee.  This dish has its own specialty. Its so flavorful even without any masalas. Slowing cooking this dish makes it more delicious. I prefer slow cooking. You can also cook in pressure cooker. This saag is traditionally served with makke ki roti. Serve it with a dollop of white butter . It will be lip smacking.
