A perfect and healthy snack made with raw papaya

Ingredients

  • Raw papaya (grated) - 3 cups (a medium sized papaya)
  • Boiled Potato(grated) - 1 cup (2 medium sized potatoes)
  • Breadcrumbs - ¼ cup
  • Ginger-garlic-green chilli paste - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder - ½ tbsp
  • Amchur powder - 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 5 tbsp for shallow frying
For coating :
  • Cornflour - 3 tbsp
  • Water - ¼ cup
  • Breadcrumbs - 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, deseed and grate the papaya. Keep aside.
  2. Boil and grate potatoes and keep aside.
  3. Mix Cornflour and water in a bowl and make a lump free slurry. Keep aside.
  4. In a large bowl, add grated raw papaya, boiled potatoes, Breadcrumbs, Ginger-garlic-greenchilli paste, all the masala powders, and salt. Mix well until well combined. The mixture should be non-sticky.
  5. Now take a small portion and shape into desired shape you want. (I gave the cutlets the teardrop shape)
  6. Once the cutlets are shaped,  Dip them in the slurry and roll gently in the breadcrumbs. (refer video) breadcrumbs should be evenly coated.
  7. Heat oil in a frying pan. Once heated, drop the prepared cutlets in the oil and fry on each side flipping every 2 minutes. Cutlets should be crisp and golden brown. (it takes around 5 minutes on each side for perfect golden brown color on medium flame)
  8. Once done, drain the oil and transfer to a plate.
  9. Serve hot with tomato ketchup or green chutney.

Notes:

If your mixture is sticky, add Breadcrumbs. Fry on low - medium flame for perfect crispy and golden brown colour. Can can add more chilli if you want it spicy. Add vegetables of your choice to make it healthy and colorful
