About

Masala Neer dosa

Breakfast!! Deciding what to prepare for tomorrow is a very tough task for me.. :/ If I ask hubby, he says anything is OK.. :D So his anything inspires me to prepare new dishes.. And experiment it on him.. :D

Neer dosa.. Hubby doesn't like it much.. He likes if I prepare it for Chicken curry or ghee roast.. :) My fav combo is Neer dosa and Garlic Chutney/ghee roast :D

I thought why don't I do a twist with Neer dosa.. (Actually I was lazy to prepare chutney :P) What I did was mixed all the chutney ingredients while grinding the Neer dosa batter.. :D n here is the end result.. :D :)

Yield: Makes 18-20 dosas
Author: Namitha Shenoy
Prep time: 2 hourCook time: 2 MTotal time: 2 H & 2 M
A thin rice crepe with spices added in the batter

Ingredients:

  • Dosa rice - 1 cup
  • Coconut (grated) - 3 Tbsp
  • Dry Red Chillies- 5 nos (I used 3 Byadgi and 2 Guntur chillies)
  • Garlic cloves (crushed) - 3-4 nos
  • Onion (large, chopped) - 1
  • Coriander seeds - 1 Tbsp
  • Water -add as required
  • Salt as required
  • Oil for making dosas

Instructions:

  1. Wash and soak the rice in enough water for 2 hrs.
  2. In a pan, add little oil and fry red chillies, keep it aside once done. In the remaining oil add garlic and fry until raw smell goes off. (keep the peel of garlic.. it enhances the taste) Add onion and saute for a minute. Let it cool..
  3. In a mixie jar, add soaked rice, coconut, coriander seeds, and remaining fried ingredients and grind to a smooth batter by adding enough water.
  4. Take it in a vessel and add salt. Add more water to make the batter thin and watery..
  5. Heat a non-stick pan, spread the oil over the pan with a spoon..
  6. Stir the batter and take a ladle full of it. Pour the batter moving outwards to inside and fill in the gaps with some more batter. Cover the lid and cook Neer dosa till done.. (Don't brown or flip it).
  7. Make a triangular fold on pan and remove it on a plate.. In the same way, continue with the remaining batter..
  8. Serve hot with homemade butter.. :) :) Tastes heavenly.. :D
